When to leave Bangkok
Hotel checkout is usually around noon, which is a good time to travel: the morning rush is over and you reach Pattaya in the afternoon. Try to avoid leaving between 4 and 7 pm on weekdays, when traffic on the way out of the city is at its heaviest. On Friday evenings and before long weekends, the road to Pattaya is busy too — leaving earlier in the day saves time.
